Al Quacka began as an improvised jam on the corner of a bust street in NC. We used to set up over there on Sundays to play and improvise for folks. When composing this tune, we used metric modulations to come up with syncopated phrases or interpretations of the melody with a healthy dose or rocking out. We got the name of the tune from the breaks that happen after the first melody and after the head out of the tune. We decided that the saxophones sounded like ducks out there on the corner and they sounded full of hate like terrorists. Hence, Al Quacka.
